Celia Emory Parsons, 90, a loving mother went to be with the Lord on October 17, 2022. She was the daughter of Essie Scarborough and Charles Everett Emory and was predeceased by her husband Andrew Sidney Parsons.

She is survived by her daughter Beverly Dianne Gwaltney, special friend Tony Powell; special nieces and nephews; great nieces and nephews and many friends.

Celia loved to garden, tend to her flowers, and listen to music. She retired after many years as a bank teller from BB&T, Waverly. Celia was a dedicated Christian and member of Burton’s Grove Christian Church where she served as Secretary/Treasurer for over 60 years. She helped to organize and served in various positions for the Scarborough and Rogers family reunions. Celia also served with the ladies auxiliary for the Waverly Rescue Squad.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, October 24, 2022 at 2 PM in the R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home and Crematory, Wakefield Chapel with Rev. David Henson presiding. Burial will follow in Waverly Cemetery. The family will receive friends in the funeral home on Sunday, October 23, 2022 from 3 to 4:30 PM. The family would like to thank all of the medical staff that cared for Celia during her illness.
