Editor, The Smithfield Times:

I first knew Carter Williams when he moved to Smithfield with his mother, brother and sister when he was 7. He was a handsome child then, as he is a handsome adult today.

I watched him become a productive adult through the years. In 1992, he and I ran as candidates for Smithfield’s Town Council, where we both won seats. I have followed his movements as a council member and mayor and have been amazed at the time he has given to our wonderful town, as well as all the council accomplished under his leadership.

No one will ever love Smithfield any more than Carter, and he will continue to serve as he has through the years in any and every way. Good luck to the newly elected members.
