A 62-year-old man was injured Sunday in a shooting at Jersey Park Apartments in Smithfield.

Smithfield police and Isle of Wight County sheriff’s deputies responded to the scene at 7:08 p.m. Officers found the victim, whom police did not identify, in the parking lot suffering from a single gunshot wound. He was transported to Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News in stable condition.

The suspects, according to police, fled by vehicle prior to officers’ arrival.
