USA Ninja Challenge, an obstacle course training gym for children, will open its second Virginia location next month in Chesapeake thanks to a Carrollton couple.

Andrea and Jeff May are the franchisees for the gym at 4207 Portsmouth Blvd. Suite B.

Based on a gymnastics foundation, the 3200-square-foot facility features a warped wall, rock walls, cargo nets, peg boards, slacklines, ropes, pinball blocks, hanging ladder, swinging rings, cannon balls, ring toss, barrels and other kid-friendly challenges. Classes are divided into age categories from 2 to 17 and are led by trained instructors.

The gym is also available for events such as parties, group outings and athletic team celebrations.

Andrea May has worked in education as a teacher and school administrator for 18 years. Her husband is vice president of research and development at LifeNet Health in Virginia Beach.

“We are very excited to open a business that will boost kids’ confidence and keep them moving,” she said. “We look forward to providing the community with a much-needed fun and exciting place for classes, camps and parties for local kids.”

Dale Grant, co-founder of USA Ninja Challenge, said the company is “thrilled to continue the growth of our franchisees across the United States.”

“Our program is growing rapidly, because both children and parents love the sport,” he said.

The Mays have two sons, Finnegan and Hunter, ages 6 and 13.
