IW deputies charge Carrollton man with abduction, strangulation

Isle of Wight County sheriff’s deputies have charged a Carrollton man with attempting to strangle a woman in her apartment three weeks ago.

Deputies responded on June 3 to a 911 call at Eagle Harbor Apartments on Shelter Cove Way. According to the incident report, 23-year-old Caleb Brodie is accused of hitting and holding the caller in a chokehold, taking her cellphone after she tried calling 911 and telling her not to answer the door when deputies arrived.

Brodie was still at large as of June 27, but on June 28 the Sheriff’s Office confirmed Brodie had been located and served with all outstanding warrants.

Brodie is charged with strangulation and abduction, both felonies, as well as misdemeanor assault and battery and preventing a 911 call.
