New Longview Drive bridge opens

Longview Drive, also known as Route 602, reopened July 7 following a months-long bridge replacement.
The new two-span, 74-foot-long bridge deck and piles are made of concrete. The new structure replaces a single-span wood-deck bridge that had been constructed on wood piles.
Virginia Department of Transportation crews began replacing the bridge in November 2022.
The bridge spans Chuckatuck Creek at Isle of Wight County’s border with Suffolk.
