James William Peden, Jr, 65, of Smithfield passed away on Tuesday, July 25, 2023 at his residence with his family by his side.  

He was the son of James William Peden, Sr. and the late Nelda Annette Peden. He is also survived by his wife Pamela Beale Gray; son, William Brent Peden (Amanda); daughters, Brittany Marie Peden and Katelyn Elizabeth Gray; grandchildren, Chloe and Olivia; and sisters, Belinda Mason (Donnie) and Lori Davis (Mark). 

Jimmy was one of a kind, he never met a stranger and loved to talk.  He was a hard worker and loved his work at Norfolk Naval Base. He attended Ebenezer Methodist Church in Crittenden. 

A funeral service was held on Saturday, July 29, 2023, 2 p.m. at Littles Funeral Home, Smithfield, with burial following in Battery Park Cemetery.  The family received friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
