A Carrollton man accused of attacking his grandfather is in custody.
Isle of Wight County sheriff’s deputies responded to a reported gunshot near the 14000 block of Bartlett Circle, on the opposite side of Brewers Neck Boulevard from Carrollton Furniture, roughly an hour before midnight on Monday. According to Deputy Alecia Paul, spokeswoman for the Sheriff’s Office, deputies found a man bleeding from the head, but conscious, who told them his grandson, Ethan Bell, had attacked him.
The victim, according to Paul, had fired a single warning shot from a .22 caliber revolver into the ground following a verbal altercation in the home. Bell is accused of taking the gun and using it to physically assault the victim, though deputies say the head wound wasn’t caused by a bullet.
Bell is alleged to have fled on foot. The gun was later recovered by deputies.
Bell turned himself in Tuesday evening. He is charged with aggravated domestic assault.
