James “Jim” Henry Livengood Jr., 88, of Smithfield, Virginia, passed away on September 17, 2023 at Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News.

Jim graduated from Boyden High School and Catawba College in Salisbury, N.C. He worked his way through college taking photographs and was hired by the Salisbury Post as a photographer soon after. Jim married his childhood sweetheart, the late Mary Ann Livengood, and they enjoyed 63 years together. Jim loved working as a photographer and took a job with the Daily Press and moved to Newport News where he and Mary Ann raised their family. He retired from the Daily Press as the Manager of the Photo Department after 36 years.

Together they built their dream home in Smithfield and spent time with friends, family and traveling. They especially loved to go on cruises.
