Commercial and large-scale mixed-use developments continue to pose existential threats to the uniqueness of our agricultural county and the small-town charm of Smithfield. Additionally, there are residual challenges with oversight of the School Board, with providing the infrastructure to meet current traffic and residential requirements and with consistent pressure for more solar-farm permitting — all to be accomplished while maintaining effective fiscal controls over taxpayer-provided funds.

Chris Torre understands those challenges, and will bring unmatched experience, mature judgment and demonstrated competence to our Board of Supervisors. His exhaustive efforts to inform both Smithfield’s Planning Commission and Town Council about the total costs and infrastructure challenges associated with the Grange at 10Main proposal were as thorough as they were unfailingly accurate with factual detail. No doubt that same attention to detail will be required going forward to inform and advise other members of the board.

Those who have taken the time to visit Chris’ website at www.christorre.com have also noted Mr. Torre’s lifelong commitment to meaningful charitable organizations and volunteerism. His leadership, both formal and informal, will bring both depth of perspective and judicious listening and analytical skill at a critical juncture for our county. My strong belief is that Chris Torre is the better choice for supervisor of District 1.
