The campus of Isle of Wight Academy was teeming with people Friday night, Oct. 20, as the school celebrated homecoming 2023.

The IWA varsity football team shut out visiting Middlesex High School for the Chargers’ first win of the season, and during halftime of the game, the crowd at Hooper Field was treated to the homecoming parade.

At the conclusion of the parade, the 2023 Homecoming Court was introduced, and then the big announcements were made.

Kaitlyn Springle was crowned as the 2023 IWA Homecoming Queen, and Kate Holland was named the 2023 IWA Homecoming Attendant.

Earlier in the evening, Dana Edwards was announced as the 2023 IWA Alumni of the Year due to her many years of dedicated service.

The theme for homecoming was “Game On, Chargers!” Each class had to choose a float theme based on a board game.

In the competition for best float, winning first place was IWA’s junior class creation based around the game “Guess Who?” The Sophomore class’ float took second with its representation of chess, and the senior class float was third with its interpretation of “Candy Land.”

After the football game at the pavilion on campus, the second annual After-Party featured The Luke Willette Band and IWA’s 1998 state championship team.
