Editor, The Smithfield Times:
In 2011, I hired Laura Smith as a deputy clerk in the Clerk of Court’s Office, and it was apparent early on that I made a good decision. She is a hard worker and a quick learner. Laura took on the tasks of many projects to enhance the services to the public.
The Isle of Wight County Clerk’s Office is currently providing all the services, technologically and personally, required to the citizens of Isle of Wight County, and Laura Smith, along with the clerk’s office staff, have the reputation of being helpful and going beyond the call of duty to help citizens in need. The technology provided by the clerk’s office is the latest provided by the Supreme Court for case management, and the land records services are provided by Logan Systems.
Laura Edwards Smith is uniquely qualified to be clerk, and she already has the knowledge and expertise to continue to provide the services expected by the citizens of our county. Additionally, Laura Smith has the experience of managing and supervising the staff in the clerk’s office.
I ask that you vote for Laura Edwards Smith if you wish to have the friendly customer service to continue, and to appreciate the dedication Laura Smith has shown during her 12 years of service.
Sharon Nelms Jones
Retired Clerk of Court
