Editor, The Smithfield Times:

I am sure that we were not the only household to be shocked when we received our property tax bill. An increase of $600 is a real kick in the gut of our budget. 

I can only assume that elected leadership has decided that they are going to continue to approve all of the requested building permits and they pay for the needed infrastructure additions with all of our property tax increases. This is really sneaky. Whatever the reason, it is wrong. We need to vote all of the members responsible for this out of office. 

One additional note to France Day in response to her letter to the editor Oct. 18 (“Still believe in Rountree”): You say you know her through your HOA events and she is a wonderful person and could not possibly have done what the papers say. May I remind you that many people are not what they appear to be socially. It seems that this is one of those cases.
