Packers youth team wins championship

Smithfield Packers Youth Sports sent two teams to the 2023 Peninsula Youth Football and Cheerleading Organization Super Bowl this past weekend to Poquoson Middle School.
The 06U No. 3 Smithfield Packers (Blue) defeated the 06U No. 4 Grafton-Tabb Tigers 12-6 in two overtime periods to claim the championship.
CaTai Clary was named defensive player of the game and Kyrie Wiggins was the offensive player of the game.
From the 06U/08U cheer squads in attendance, Jaylah Tucker (06U) was named most spirited, while Traniece Cupid (08U) was awarded best technique.
In afternoon play, the 14U No. 3 Smithfield Packers fell to the 14U No.1 Tri-Citi Hurricanes.
Brody Smith was named defensive player of the game and Mekhi Thomas was named offensive player of the game.
From the 14U cheer squad, Trinitee Bynum was named most spirited while Timell Edwards was awarded best technique’.
While this concludes the 2023 PYFCO fall season, several football teams plan to attend the Holiday Bowl in Richmond, Dec 1-3. The 06U Blue team will attend the 2023 UYFL Championships in Plant City, Florida; and the cheerleading squads plan to attend the Cheer Stop and Shake Competition in Portsmouth.
