Ronald Douglas Darden, 75, of Smithfield, VA passed away on Friday, December 8, 2023. He was the son of the late, Mary Jane Warner and John R. Darden, Jr. He is also preceded in death by brother, John R. Darden, III and sister, Joanne D. Jones.

Ronnie graduated from Smithfield High School and was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church. He enjoyed playing the piano, doing yard work and taking walks, whether it was on a beach or with the family pets. After 34 years, he retired from the Daily Press as an Ad Compositor and was currently working at Isle of Wight Department of Social Services part time as an associate.

He is survived by his wife, Faye K. Darden; sons, Ronald Douglas Darden, Jr. (Carol) and James Robert Darden; grandchildren, Tessa Darden, Noah Darden, Jameson Begley, Miranda Hollomon, Donald Wintersteen, and Tyler Collie; great grandchildren, Elija Wintersteen and Eleanor Hollomon; sister, Jacqueline Horsley; sister-in-law, Margaret Darden; brother-in-law, David Jones; and many nieces and nephews.

A funeral service officiated by Pastor Tom Durrance will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at 11AM at Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 1589 Steeple Dr, Suffolk, VA 23433. Burial will follow at Uzzell United Methodist Church Cemetery. Family will receive friends and family on Wednesday, December 13, 2023 from 6-7:30 PM at R.W. Baker & Co.
