Letter – Faith in  God works

Editor, The Smithfield Times:

This is written in response to the individual who previously lamented the moral decay of our society in this country (“Discouraged about world,” Dec. 27). I agree with her on several points she mentioned. Fortunately, there is a way to deal with these issues.

If you look around, there are numerous acts of kindness, love, compassion and support exemplified by those who have a faith-based life. As a matter of fact, the reason a lot of what was said is a clear reflection of the decay we see due to a lack of faith in God. He is being removed from all institutions, public view and people’s lives, of which there are plenty of examples. Secularism is a prevalent factor in this situation and has no acceptance of God in its ideology and has no redeeming values.

Many people don’t believe that the Holocaust ever happened even though there are mountains of evidence to prove otherwise. Point being, many can be shown the way to salvation, but instead they reject it because it doesn’t suit their lifestyle and/or they claim that there is no proof that substantiates the Word of God. That is totally false. If they were honest with themselves and were actually seeking the truth, they would find more evidence than one could comprehend.

There are many who live a Godless life striving to seek purpose and truth in their lives in this world. Their reasoning of morality is seriously flawed due to a lack of having foundational truths to live by that remain consistent and do not change whenever the wind blows.

There are those who point their fingers and say that Christians are hypocrites because they don’t see evidence of what they expect to be appropriate character. In some cases that’s true, but this is stereotyping. Many would and do give their lives for the sake of the Gospel of Christ. They just need to look a little harder to see it. Perfect examples of this are people who support, with time and funding, Samaritan’s Purse and Mercy Ships, which alleviate much suffering and need in the world.

If people accepted Christ into their lives, this letter would be totally unnecessary and the world would be a much better place to live. Think about it.

The Bible contains all of the answers!
