Smithfield Police said two men were arrested and charged with robbing convenience stores in town and in Surry County.

According to Smithfield Police Lt. William Wooley, 31-year-old Brandon Gibson of Norfolk confessed to a Dec. 2 robbery at the 7-Eleven on Benns Church Boulevard. Police have also charged 28-year-old Christopher Orbeta of Chesapeake with the crime. Both men face charges of robbery and conspiracy to commit a felony.

Wooley said the charges are the result of an investigation that linked both suspects to the Dec. 5 robbery of another 7-Eleven in Surry using evidence gathered from multiple digital search warrants.
