During the two-day competition (60 shots each day) both Summer and Nymiar Towns earned their gold Civilian Marksmanship Program pins by shooting 515 or above out of a possible 600 points on either day. The SHS JROTC Rifle Team has been the No. 1 JROTC in Virginia since it began in the 2019-20 school year.

“I am very proud of these cadets! They both shot their personal bests this week and both shot over 1,000 on the combined two day competition. I could not be prouder,” said Coach Lt. Col. (Ret.) Peter Badoian.
