Virginia Nielsen Jacquette, 89, of Smithfield, passed away on Saturday, February 17, 2024.  She was the daughter of the late Louis Seigfred Nielsen and Esther Elfea Creighton Nielsen.  She is survived by her husband of 70 years, Isaac Simns Jacquette, Jr; daughter, Robin Koob (Don); sons, Gary Simns Jacquette (Linda) and Anthony Louis Jacquette (Andrea); grandchildren, Tara Morales and Kristen Gines (Angelo); and great grandchildren, Angel Morales and Scarlett Gines.

Ginny was born on March 6, 1934 in Baltimore, Maryland.  Her childhood and young adult life was spent on the Eastern Shore Maryland, in Rock Hall, MD.  This is where she met her long time husband Simns.  After raising three children she had a very successful career working 21 years in the savings and loan profession reaching the position of Suffolk Branch Manager of Home Federal Savings and Loan.  Her greatest joy was singing in the church choir.  She was a member of the Smithfield Trinity Methodist Church Choir for over 40 years and the Dick Barnes Choral regional chorus. Ginny also taught Sunday school both at Trinity and the Smithfield Magnolia Hall.  She was very active, participating in the Methodist Women’s Society and the Mature Methodist Senior Fellowship group (M & M’s).  She was a quiet and gentle soul who loved writing letters and notes to family and friends.  She particularly loved walking in her yard viewing the plants and flowers, taking in each and every bloom for hours.  Her quiet presence will be missed by all.  Ginny fought hard and spent many years battling the effects of Parkinsons.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, February 29, 2024, 11 a.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, Smithfield, VA.  A graveside service will be held on Saturday, March 2, 2024, 11 a.m. at Wesley Chapel Cemetery, Rock Hall, Maryland.  Online condolences may be registered at www.littlesfuneralhome.com.
