Letter – Age isn’t the real issue

Editor, The Smithfield Times:

Many octogenarians are competent and sharp mentally. That’s a fact.

To say you would prefer having a president who stumbles, falls, loses train of thought, asks permission to answer questions, makes poor decisions, entertains the woke culture and continually displays incompetency is like saying you disregard the value of the most important governmental position we have in this country.

I fully understand those who despise someone who makes fun of people, calls them names, is accused of being a narcissist and is claimed to be a threat to democracy. They are acting on their emotional opposition to these issues. What you say matters, but what you do matters more.

You need to ask yourself and be objective: Are we better off now than we were four years ago? It’s interesting to see how even the liberal media are souring on the present president and how ALL of the polls are placing him well behind the opposition. Even large numbers of minorities are waking up to the fact that they have been deceived for a long time and there needs to be a change, and many liberals also see the need to change their voting preferences. Many have “buyer’s remorse” from the last election.

I could go on a diatribe about the good, the bad and the ugly sides of both of these guys, but being well educated in the political subject matter would be more useful. Listen to multiple sources that discuss both sides of the issues and you’ll see glaring differences.

You won’t find the perfect candidate. Pick the one who makes our concerns a priority and won’t submit to liberal ideology that is destroying the very fabric of our society.
