Josephine Maxey White, 87, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2024 after hard fought battles with two types of cancer. She was a faithful member of Woodland United Methodist Church and cherished the life she made on the farm in Windsor. She is predeceased by her husband, Jeryl Eley White, daughter in law, Laura White, grandson, Andrew White, and best friend, Jean Claud.

After retiring from a career of teaching PE and Home Economics, she enjoyed working on the farm alongside her husband and father in law. She loved being on the tractor, especially when picking peanuts. Other favorite activities included picking up and shelling pecans and cutting the grass; she wasn’t happy when she had to get someone else to do her favorite jobs. She enjoyed volunteering at the elementary school, Obici hospital, Meals on Wheels, Windsor Public Library, and Homemakers Club of Windsor. She loved her family, especially her grandsons, neighbors, and friends. The support they have shown her family is greatly appreciated and shows how much she was loved. She was a very independent soul and she always saw the good in others. Her glass was always half full, and she was always looking out for what was best for others.

Left to cherish her memory are her son, Jeff White; daughter, Jill Duck (Kevin); grandchildren, Ben White (Tom), Mark White (Claire), Justin Duck (Nicole), Trent Duck, and a treasured family friend, Bobby Claud.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 4, 2024 at 3PM at R.W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home, 509 W. Washington St. Suffolk, VA 23434. A visitation will be held an hour prior to the service. Burial to follow at Holly Lawn Cemetery.
