Jack Monroe Jones, 92, of Ivor passed away on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. He was the son of the late Herbert Linwood Jones and Minnie Virginia Bulls Jones. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Lucille Gray Jones. He is survived by his daughters, Barbara J. Hunter (Billy), Brenda J. Crofts (Jim) and Wendy L. Sims (Carson); son, Jack M. Jones, Jr; grandchildren, Tracy Boykin (Chase), Chase Jones (Lauren), Jack M. Jones, III (Katelyne) and Daniel Crofts; great grandchildren, Collin, Waverly, Raelyne, Everly, Caleigh, Easton, Memphis and Blake; and brothers, Ray Mac Jones and Randolph “Lucky” Jones.

Mr. Jones was a loving husband, father, brother, grandfather and great grandfather. He was married to the love of his life, Lucille. She passed away 2 ½ years ago and not a day has gone by that he did not speak of her. As a young boy, he started working as a farm helper. That passion led him into a career of being a farmer of 70+ years. He was a jack of all trades, anything his hands touched, he could build or fix, and he was even a lefty. He was old school, meat, and potatoes guy, never would try anything new to eat. He was best known for his cooking of a country ham at Thanksgiving and at Christmas and for his turkey dressing. After he retired, he loved going to McDonald’s for his early morning breakfast and conversating with his friends. His children would get onto him for eating those greasy biscuits, and he would say “they’re not going to kill me”. He was a kind, patient, friendly man that knew so many people and had nicknames for most of them. He loved to joke around and was not a stranger to anyone. On summer days, his favorite past time was going fishing with his brothers and working in his garden. He was a man of strong faith and a follower of Jesus Christ. He was just an all-around good ole country boy, and he will be missed greatly by his family and friends.
