Smithfield’s skating rink could change hands for the first time in 26 years.
Smithfield Skate Limited, which opened in 1998 on Wimbledon Lane, is up for sale. Its original owners, town residents Bruce and Debbie Beers, are looking to retire, according to the rink’s listing agent, Realtor Patricia Green.
“It’s been on the market about a year and a half,” Green said.
The 14,896-square-foot building is listed for $2.1 million. It includes maple floors, an arcade area, food service area, party rooms and batting cages.
According to Green, the Beers are selling the building and the business it houses.
“They’re willing to help teach somebody” to run it, Green said.
The rink remains open. Smithfield’s Ghost Fleet Roller Derby confirmed the 2022-founded team continues to practice there.
