A Newport News man faces multiple felony charges related to his alleged creation of videos depicting the sexual abuse of an Isle of Wight County juvenile.

Isle of Wight County sheriff’s deputies arrested 38-year-old Aric Charles Hutson on May 16 in neighboring Surry County.

A Sheriff’s Office news release states the investigation began in August 2023 when deputies were notified of possible child exploitation and sought search warrants for Hutson’s electronics.

“After being analyzed by our Digital Forensic Unit, we were able to confirm the images as CSAM,” the news release states, using an acronym for child sexual abuse material.

According to the news release, the digital forensic exam found “multiple recordings” of a single juvenile victim “without knowledge or consent dating back to 2022.”

Hutson is being held without bond at the Western Tidewater Regional Jail in Suffolk.
