Letter – What are rules on fireworks?

Editor, The Smithfield Times:
Well, we are approaching the Fourth of July, and that means fireworks will be shooting off everywhere.
First, let me say that I am not anti-fireworks, but I am against shooting off fireworks until late into the night, which for pet owners and veterans or other people who suffer from PTSD is very traumatic.
Just what exactly is the law or ordinance for fireworks in the Town of Smithfield and Isle of Wight County? The fireworks Vendors have already set up shop in the Town of Smithfield and Isle of Wight County and if dome fireworks are illegal in the Town of Smithfield and Isle of Wight County, is anyone checking to see what is being sold by these vendors? Like I said, we are not anti-fireworks, but as pet owners and supporters of those who suffer from PTSD (especially veterans), we’re against fireworks being shot off until late in the night that are not part of the normal local festivities.
Some of our elected officials and law enforcement need to get the word about what is and is not allowed/legal when it comes to fireworks.
