SURRY—All seven men convicted in connection with the 2012 shooting death of Sussex County teen TyQuan Johnson have pleaded to lesser charges.

Some charges have been whittled from felony murder to misdemeanor counts of participating in a riot.

Calling it a “decorative partition,” the Isle of Wight Board of Supervisors is now enjoying enhanced security from the public during meeting.

County staff seized on the idea of installing the partition after a heated Board meeting with fire and rescue volunteers concerning the facilities use and vehicle titling agreement.

Two Isle of Wight fire departments will have their quarterly contributions withheld beginning in October unless their leaders sign the county’s facilities use agreement.

The Carrollton and Windsor Volunteer Fire Departments are the final holdouts in signing the agreement aimed at standardizing maintenance and use of the county’s seven fire and rescue buildings.
