Pleased with Riverside stay

Editor, The Smithfield Times:

I would like to take this opportunity to share my recent experience at Riverside Healthy Living Community.

Because of a recent broken hip, I was able to have my rehab at Riverside in Smithfield. What a wonderful experience that was. I have visited friends at Magnolia Manor, even visited the Memory Care Unit on occasion, but I have never been a patient there.

I want to tell all of my friends in the Smithfield-Carrollton area what a wonderful facility we have in this area. We are very blessed to have such a place that we can send our loved ones to recuperate after a hospital stay. You don’t realize until you are the patient what a great place this is.

I was there for three weeks and four days and I can say that it was very emotional for me to leave to go home. This is not your average “nursing home.” It is a well-oiled machine of a place to go. Everyone from “food service” (very important in healing), nurses/aides, physical therapy, activities coordinator and especially the friends you meet walking down the hallway become family in a very short period of time.

I was in the “Willow Creek” section and I hesitate to start listing names of all of the folks who made my stay so pleasant, but you all know who you are because I have told you many times how much I love and appreciate you. I just wanted to take this opportunity to let the Smithfield area know what a gem of a place we claim in our community.

Thank you, Riverside Healthy Living Community, for being there for us in our time of need. God bless each one of you who made my stay there so special. I will never forget your kindness.
