Smithfield High School’s football team will travel to Hampton Saturday, Nov. 11 for the first round of the Virginia High School League Class 4 region playoffs.

Smithfield is seeded fifth in the eight-team region bracket. Hampton, 6-4 overall and 6-3 in region play, is seeded fourth. The two teams did not play during the regular season. Kickoff is at noon in Hampton.

The Packers finished the regular season 5-5 overall, 5-3 in region play, after a 28-14 home win against Tabb on Nov. 3. Tabb dropped to 5-5.

Surry County High will travel to Altavista on Nov. 10 for the first round of the Class 1 region playoffs.

The Cougars, 3-7 overall and 1-5 in region play, finished the regular season with a 62-0 loss to rival Sussex Central. Sussex is 9-1 overall, 5-0 in region play, and hosts Cumberland County on Nov. 9 in the first round of the playoffs.
