Reed Corvin Ramsey

Reed Corvin Ramsey, 61, of Isle of Wight County, Virginia passed away on August 17, 2022. Reed was predeceased by his parents, John A. Ramsey, Jr (Jack) and Mildred C. Ramsey; and his brothers, John A. Ramsey III and Edwin C. Ramsey.

Reed is survived by his daughters, Jaclyn Ramsey Smith (Jack) and Carly Reed Ramsey; and his sister, Nancy A. Ramsey.

Reed graduated from University of Richmond’s The E. Claiborne Robins School of Business in 1983.  He remained involved with his Kappa Sigma Fraternity having been very active during his college years serving as Grand Master and Grand Master of Ceremonies.  Following his college graduation, he returned to his community and became active with the Smithfield Jaycee chapter.  Reed’s classmates from Isle of Wight Academy’s Class of 1979 were lifelong friends.  He was a member of the Smithfield Baptist Church.

Reed’s lifetime work was with agriculture. He served as Vice President of Ramsey Brothers Inc. for more than 40 years.  Reed served as the seventh generation of his family to farm in Isle of Wight County.  In 1994 his family was recognized as Isle of Wight County’s Farm Family.

A memorial graveside service will be held Saturday, September 17, 2022 at 11 a.m. at St. Luke’s Memorial Cemetery in Smithfield, Virginia with Rev. Robert Cofield, Jr.  officiating.  Arrangements are being coordinated by Parr Funeral Home, Suffolk, VA.
