Smithfield High School’s varsity baseball and girls soccer teams punched their tickets to the semifinals of their respective Region 4A tournaments June 14.

In baseball, the No. 7-seeded Packers defeated No. 2 Churchland High School 5-3 in the quarterfinals to advance to a June 16 showdown at No. 6 Grafton High School at 4:30 p.m.

In girls soccer, No. 2 Smithfield routed No. 7 Woodrow Wilson High School 9-0 in the quarterfinals. The Lady Packers will host No. 3 Jamestown High School on June 15 at 7:30 p.m.

Surry County High School’s baseball team was set to play at Central Lunenburg High School on June 15 at 6 p.m. in the Region 1B Tournament semifinals.
